Hi! I'm just recovered from my ubin trip on last tuesday (3 May). My butt was sore and I couldn't even sit comfortably...The trip was fun and I didn't expect that ubin is going under mass renovation...
The jetty was transformed into spanking new jetty with a service trip to Johor even...Except there were a few ass-hole police who made that stupid kitten sound which I fell for it...their stupid girlish giggles was so irksome...yeah, anyway, we waited for the boat for quite sometime and we were mistaken when the man just removed that barrier as we thought that we could embark already...but the boatmen were not ready yet...
So Sam, Faiza and me started to play this Korean game by slapping your palm against your thigh while say out loud numbers then your name in Korean...interesting though but I couldn't master Korean language that fast....
The fee to ubin was increased to $2.00 and I thought it was a little bit too much...but I guess the oil prices aren't making these people happy...so yeah, we took a short 5 minute boat ride and we went to rental shop for bikes...I chose a little expensive $5 while Sam and Faiza choses the a little less than mine...Round and round the island we go and explore that places that I didn't have the chance to... On the east side of the island there were major reconstrunction and I heard from the locals there they said they are going to make camping resort...
I like that kind of idea but minus the mosquitoes there...After for such a long time that I had not taken any rides, going uphill was a killer for me and luckily that mountain bike supports me but there were always a bright side...
After exploring every nook and cranny of the place, we discovered some cyclist on a two-cyclist-bike...*I don't know the term for it....which I assume they are from the OBS having some cycling trip on ubin...The cropped shapped hair and their shirt could easily tell they are from OBS....or some servicemen who got nothing to do...we spotted quite a number of them passed the abandoned shack where we came to rest...Sam and Faiza said they were from Club 21 and hence forth, they are Club 21 members...
As curious as the cat, we went to investigate where they were heading and in the end we came across a temple on the top and that's not all...the slopes were getting steeper and had trouble taking our bikes up...Yeah, we stopped by a small house with a huge peacock by the river...nothing much down there...
After for quite sometime, when we were totally out of shape, we decide to cycle abreast to the Secret Garden to see some of the spices grown there...the tracks were relatively smooth and we cycle through the beach and decided to take a photo using the the mainland as our landscape...It was a day to remember...
That's our ubin trip....
