It has been three weeks already. I wish the time fly faster. It is so amazing of how we could try to blend with their cultures here. Well, there isn't any cultural stuff, but we learnt how to cope with their busy lifestyle.
Those honking streets from dawn to dusk has become part and parcel of our everyday lives here. I also experience some thing extra ordinary to me like walking along the streets where you were inches away from getting an accident.
It is the fact that the traffic here is horrible. Although there is traffic police at main junctions, I seriously think there should be a mass road campaign. The streets were also not that good or clean. I don't anticipated either. The street was muddy and dusty. Filthy in the sense that it sometimes lined with cow faeces. There was this huge canal, sewage rather that is totally filthy. Filthier than the then Kallang river.
I don't care that much about the sewage being filthy. What I don't like is the ugly experience with the call taxi here. Can you imagine waiting for nearly two hours for a call taxi? It is non-aircondition and we paid it for Rs 80. Of course, I was infuriated with their sucky service. At most of the time, the driver will claim that he has no change. By then I started to roll eyes at them and dig for any coins that I have to give them exact. There is no way I'm getting cheated by them. First, they are being late. Secondly, the charges are ridiculously high with no comfort as the four of us had to squeez into a three seater back seat while Jimmy has the front seat. Thirdly, the traffic is horrible during peak hours with the blastering honks from all over the place.
Just imagine that we had to endure that for the next two months or to be exact, another 67 more days. The only thing that I find positive here is the excellent restaurant service. Even though the food is not that cheap, I find they are relatively pleasant as expected of a restaurant. I can't find no fault in them. There are also restaurant offers good food at good rates like Meenam restaurant. Mainly I have been to Chinese restaurants and Indian restaurants which has vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals.
Oh, in the midst of writing this, we had a chat session with Mr Anil, Assistant Vice President HR of the company. He was friendly and pleasant with a number of people reporting to him. Finally, we going to be assigned to a serious projects in the various departments here so there is no excuse of slacking already. We also have enough of doing nothing at our desktops and yeah, we finally see something.
I just wish tomorrow is a better day for us all...
See ya
