What I wanted to post here is nothing but about the recent spat of our prophet Muhammad s.a.w being drawn in European newspapers...
Yes, it is totally outrageous to draw in any forms in our religion...
The other thing is that these papers are using the "freedom of speech" as defending excuse which is not working very well...
I believed that there are limits of being absolute free speech...there should be a fine line in all mediums to express certain views...
Imagine a scenario where someone drew Jesus in absolute obscenity or drawing a lewd caption that point out from his mouth...of course, this would also cause an outrage...
The point is, all media should be clear what they can publish and what they could not...all this while they could publish whatever they want...when a religion plays into the picture, they were actually playing with fire and apparently they got burnt...
This is one of the quotes that I've got from ChannelNewsAsia(
http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp_world/view/191310/1/.html):
"Islam forbids any representation of the Prophet ... The question is, are all those who are not Muslims obliged to honour that prohibition?" the paper asked in an editorial.I was aghast with the comment from a supposedly an established paper....To me this translates that they wouldn't mind their religion to be ridicule by a mere people....of course, this wouldn't be applicable to free thinkers...
At the end of the day, it is all about tolerance....whether or not you have it, you have to be tolerant towards each other...
I'm just glad that Singapore have been handling it so well....
Nights... :)
