Whenever the STOMP.com.sg caught Singapore Police Force (SPF), the SPF shook to its foundation...
I believed so because we have the reputation being one of the best organisations and capable force to maintain law and order of Singapore.
They had been maintaining it since its first implementation way back during our forefather's time. Protecting the people as the government made them the "valuable asset". We have been trying to solve cases and keeping crimes at bay. But what do we get from this? Nothing but even more selfish complains which some becoming more uncouth.
12 hours shift everyday.....I emphasized on EVERYDAY....not just any other public sector where they could enjoy at least an alternate Saturday offs or even the luxury 5-days work week....We do have our off days but try this, having to called back during Public Holidays, International Events and the latest being NDP....these are some I named a few... They have to do this as part of their duty REGARDLESS it is their time OFF to spend with Families and Friends....their sacrificies are immeasurable...
Although, I had never seen SAF personnel ever did any kind of major deployment like Christmas Light Up or even count down, but I believe their responsibilities lies in protecting the sovereignity of the nation. SPF on the other hand, had to deal with "internal affairs", coping with incessant public complaints, trying to mitigate the situation whenever the public lack trust in us, helping the public to deal with unscrupulous criminals on the run, helping to find missing person, solve the murder mysteries and the very least, hear their woes through house visits....the list never ends there....
The SPF made have made a mistake through negligence but the over powering resilience of the force had made our country to be safe to live in. Ask anyone around whether they would want a country laden with criminals or police force nothing but corruption....
We risked our lives to keep the crime at bay...Think about this, whenever you went out shopping, or having a good time watching your favourite movie, or having wonderful holiday overseas, who helped you to look after your property, your home? Who?
We never asked any returns from any of the public, we just seek appreciation of what we have done so far. The word "Thank you, Mr Policeman." suffices. Nevertheless, we have to be professional and keep the standard of our force.
In other words, we seek public help to form us to be one of the best police force they ever had...Giving us the discouraging remarks, or sending in unconstructive complains can never make the relationship between the public and the force better.
The trust and faith of the public towards SPF needed to be reinforce and nothing shall tarnish its undisputable reputation.
Bear in mind that, whenever you called "999", aren't you glad that over at the other end of the line we are responding to WHATEVER your emergencies might be....Be it trivial or major, we respond to all....we are the first line of defence whenever your personal securities at stake, we are your personal security officers that prowl day and night to keep you safe...
So much for STOMP.com.sg, your best channel of complains.... I never said it was a bad idea to have STOMP.com.sg for it serves a reminder to the entire force of what the public is expecting of us...
The very least SPF asked from the public is keep a look out for any crime activites, a simple call of "999" is one of the evidence that you are seriously doing your part to keep country safe. Policeman doesn't equate to Superman. Like Doctors never equate to God.... Policeman are just like you and me.
Give us faith and trust, and I believed that we have a lot more to achieve.
