I've just watched Ayat Ayat Cinta and I was very impressed by the story line.
It tells a story about a Al-Azhar University student in pursuit in academic life and also trying to get a wife.
My mother disagree with his goals because if your goal is to study, you have to study only and nothing else.
No doubt that the protagonist is supposed to be casanova, a total of 4 women are head over heels for him. None but one only struck the chord in his heart. Hence, the other 3 are heart broken and trouble ensued for this protagonist.
He was charged for rape and one of the girlfriend was terminally ill. When the wife knew that this terminally ill girlfriend can save him from the death sentence, she permitted her husband to marry the said girl. The sacrifice was to heavy but she have no choice.
Jealousy hidden with smiles and sharp cold stares but the two women could enjoy the same man. Until the second wife dies, then i believe the couple could enjoy some peace.
I really like the story of stark contrast. In the film, the protagonist hate himself for being hapless as his marriage life always provided for by the wife's rich family. Technically, he got nothing to spend as everything is paid for. This made him feel miserable.
The story continues to other women who loves him but never disclose to him personally. Maria, the neighbour who lives one floor above, pour out her feelings for him in the diary. Nurul, a student at the prestigious university, secretly admires him and always engage a conversation with him. Nurouh, an abused neighbour by her stepfather, harbour deep feeling after he saved her from her stepfather. Lastly, Aisha, whom he met at the bus over an incident involving a narrow minded muslim.
Not easy eh, to juggle all this women. Fortunately, Fahri, the protagonist, is very shy towards women and held them in high regards.
Watch it, it is very inspiring movie.
