I woke up this morning and read about 22 year old National Full-Time Serviceman (NSF) being sentenced to 15 month jail for firing at his mate.

I think he is pretty stupid and very immature even to play with a fully loaded gun. It is even more severe to point your gun at your own fellowmate. What I have read from the papers today, he was supposed to be on duty and apparently, out of boredom I guessed, his mates decides to play prank and locked him out of the sentry post.

When he finally managed to get inside, he got worked up. He decided to cocked up his gun and point at his mate. At that point of time, I think no body is laughing. He might be trying to be a smart ass and doesn't even know that it was very dangerous to toy with a real gun.

As you might have already known, he fired the gun and the bullet his mate's groin. That single bullet earned him a ticked to the prison.

Even an isolated incident like this have its own repercussions. Almost immediately, the supervisors for that dumbass would be called to question. As this matter goes in more scrutiny, the safety council will even need to readjust the safety procedures and even may request for steeper penalty for mishandling fire weapons.

It all boils down to stupidity. Seriously, stupid.
